Paul Lockhart, an artist on the Eastern shore of Maryland, is a direct metal sculptor whose work has been recognized and enjoyed for nearly twenty-eight years. Self taught, he produces functional as well as decorative pieces honoring all marine life, but particularly that of the Chesapeake Bay. As a child, he was always creating and building things and it has carried through to his career. From the first design to the completed piece, Lockhart’s work shows the precision and grace of a mature artist. He finds inspiration from the people, plant life, and animals. A favorite among his many fans is the fifteen-foot stainless steel marlin that greets visitors as they enter Ocean City. In addition, many restaurants and businesses feature his work through out much of the Delmarva region. Paul’s work is held in high esteem in public and private collections locally and nationally.
